I drink lots of homemade smoothies, usually about 2/day. Some of my reasons are health-based, i.e. painlessly increasing my whole fruit/veggie intake. Some are waste-conscious, i.e. using up produce that might otherwise go bad waiting for me to eat it all. Others are borderline trifling:
- Quick and easy: Just toss stuff in the blender. It’s the no-brainer method of healthy eating.
- Efficient: Six to eight fruits and veggies in a single glass? Done.
- Portable: See “Quick and Easy” above. Then, pour into travel container and go.
- Free pass worthy: (Ok, here’s when things start to get a little dicey on my part. This is just me.) If I have a smoothie or two during the day, and I have – say – shrimp and grits for dinner, I feel like I’m covered because I’ve already had 10 or more whole fruits/veggies. See? Sketchy.
INGREDIENTS:
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 cup green grapes
- 1 orange
- 1 carrot
- 1 cup red kale, thick center rib removed
- 1/2 cup chopped mango
- 1 teaspoon honey
Blend, and enjoy!
lol @ “borderline trifling”….love green smoothies.
Me, too! I’ve (finally) gotten into the habit of having a green smoothie most mornings, and I can definitely tell a difference when I miss a day. Thanks for reading!
