Located in the Westside Urban Market, JCT Kitchen & Bar is the sister restaurant to The Optimist and one of my family’s, friends’, and my favorite lunch spots in town.
Bonus: In lieu of the standard bowl of after-dinner mints, there is a huge Lemonheads dispenser in the dining room. How’s that for creative?!
Sweet and Spicy Caramel Corn
Truffle Parmesan Fries
The first time I visited JCT, I ordered a sandwich – I don’t remember exactly which one because it was many, many JCT meals ago – that came with a side. Our server asked, “Would you like fries with your sandwich,” emphatically shaking her head “Yes” as she asked. Although I’m not huge on fries, I took the hint and ordered them. Y.U.M. The mix of flavors is so delicious… leaps and bounds above basic fries.
Hush Puppies
Shrimp and Grits (Summer Version)
Grilled Shrimp and Avocado Salad
This very filling salad is one of my favorite, favorite meals and sparked my current obsession with love of avocados.
JCT’s Famous (seriously: the menu advises “come early” because they sell out) Fried Chicken with Pickled Veggies and Tiny Biscuits
Maine Lobster Roll
(Served only on Friday and Saturday, so govern yourselves accordingly :-))
JCT Salad and …
… JCT Salad with Fried Chicken
“Grown Up” Grilled Cheese Sandwich with Tomato Soup
Fish with Grilled Beans and Shaved Vegetables
Key Lime Pie
Rum Sopped Coconut Cake
The truffle fries are ridiculously good
They ARE!
