I’m in love with this old J Crew fanfare jacket! (See, I did not make up the title of this post – like *cue fanfare* LOOK at my jacket! – although truthfully, that is how I feel whenever I see it hanging in the closet :-)). Now that I think about it, most of my clothes make me feel like doing a happy dance. A year or so ago, I took a cold, hard look at my wardrobe, really being honest with myself about how I wanted to dress and if/how each item fit into that vision. I realized how many things were just taking up space for no good reason and that many of those items I’d bought just because I thought they were too good of a deal to pass up. I still go for great deals of course (you know me!), but now I make a point to buy only things I truly love. If a piece doesn’t make me want to hug it and squeal *cue fanfare*, then back on the rack it goes. This, along with periodic closet reorganization**, has really helped me to spend less on clothes and assemble a wardrobe of pieces I love and actually wear.
** This tip is from Tia, the Chic Stay at Home Mom: In this post, she describes how cleaning out her closet helps her 1) easily see what she has and 2) realize that she doesn’t “need” to add more. It really works!

I love your take on the fanfare jacket J&S! It looks great with the camel and grey. The pop of animal print is fab! I also agree with you on not buying clothes just because they are a great deal, but because you love them;) Great reminder today!
Thank you! J Crew additional 30% off sales are a constant test, but I’ve been consistent with only buying what I love. Happy to hear from you!
