Empire State Building
Hub and I took a quick, largely unplanned trip to the Big Apple a few weeks ago. My friends in real life are probably like, “What? ‘Largely unplanned’? You don’t do unplanned!” While that is usually the case, we decided to wing it this trip, and it was so much fun! Well, aside from the fact that it was so largely unplanned that I forgot my sunglasses, and the only thing in my bag that remotely qualified as a cosmetic was a tube of Vaseline Lip Therapy. I told the hubs, “Well, looks like I’m going for the glossy natural look this trip.” Of course he grinned and replied, “I like that better anyway.”
Radio City Music Hall
Apparently, this is where the NFL draft is held. (Guess who informed me of that…) Oh, and NFL headquarters is also in New York City.

View of Central Park from the Top of the Rock
The glass railings/walls on the Top of the Rock observation deck look to be about 18 inches from the actual edge of the top of the building. Oh.
This was our first time exploring the Chelsea area, where we went to the market, and the Upper West Side, where we met some good friends for lunch. I read a quote about Paris that said something to the effect of, “From the moment you arrive, you already know you’ll be back.” I think the same is true for New York: there’s just so much to see, do, and explore that return trips are very necessary. Hint, hint… on both fronts π
Model Boat Pond in Central Park
Quick Snack at Bouchon Bakery
The thing I really love at Bouchon is their grilled cheese + tomato soup. I won’t say how many I had on this trip and the trip before. I also won’t say how I nearly acted up when I was told that while I could get a grilled cheese for breakfast, I could not get the accompanying tomato soup for breakfast. (“Well, I’ll just have to come back later, then, won’t I? And yes, I will take the plain grilled cheese for now, thank you.” LOL)

Makers of the best French macarons in the whole. wide. world. The pistachio and caramel are my favorites. Oh, and the lemon π
New World Trade Center Complex
Times SquareΒ
TKTS Booth in Times Square
My NYC BFF! We scored half price day-of tix to see Newsies on Broadway. See how well “largely unplanned” worked out?
Central Park
It had just stopped drizzling when we walked through this section of the park. Birds singing, flowers blooming, zero crowds… it was a really beautiful moment π
Seals at Central Park ZooΒ
OMG. What in the world?! I didn’t want to see any calorie info, fat grams, or ingredient lists. I just wanted to close my eyes, sit back on the bench at the park, and marvel at this to-go yummy goodness topped with whipped cream, strawberries, and hazelnut sauce.
Side note: Hub is now obsessed withΒ very interested in these wafels. He already informed me that he is buying a waffle maker, and being the loving, supportive wife that I am, I’m 100% on board with that idea.
This pretty accurately sums it up π
LOVE the pictures!
Thank you! I had so much fun taking these photos. I had to be quick, though, because foot traffic in NYC does NOT stop π

The pictures are wonderful! Wafeles & Dinges is on my list of food trucks to try in NYC. Your pictures make me rethink my love/hate relationship for NYC…until I get there.
Thank you! You have to try it the next time you go: it was crazy good! Do you think that if you go to NYC not on business and with no agenda – just focusing on enjoying the city – you’ll like it? I’m telling you: If I come into a billion or so dollars, I’m moving there π

Lucky you!! The hubs and I so need a little getaway. We will definitely take one in the fall. I was in New York last summer and I am planning to get that way for Christmas.
I absolutely love New York..I don’t think I could live there though!
Thank you, Mimi! I think I could live in NYC – out and about, enjoying the city – but I think working there, being on a rigid, day-to-day schedule is the kicker.

I love this post and NYC is so much fun can’t wait to get back there.
I agree! We need to make it a regular trip π

Great pics! It looks like you guys had a great time. I can’t believe YOU went unplanned π
We did! It was so much fun that I might be winging it (within reason, of course, lol) more often! Thanks for reading!

I STILL can’t believe that I missed you! It looks like you had a really good time, you have to come back! We have to explore together :)) So glad you enjoyed your trip, though!
I’m so sorry we weren’t able to meet up! (Definitely a downside to quick, “largely unplanned” trips.) You know I heart NYC, so hopefully we’ll run the city on my next trip π
