Entertaining: Vision Book Party

Making a Vision Book/Board

Back in January, two friends and I got together to catch up and make vision books. Making vision books or boards is definitely a personal thing, but it was really great to be able to bounce ideas off each other and share our true goals and new ventures as we worked on creating visual representations of those goals. The really cool thing, aside from having a sounding board of people we know and trust, is that because we brought different experiences to the table, we were able to help each other be proactive about potential obstacles to achieving our goals.

For small example, I eat well, but I don’t workout regularly. Or even semi-regularly. Or, you know, at all most of the time. But I want to be fit and toned, right? Well, my friends told me what I already knew – to paraphrase: B ain’t gonna happen without A – AND they gave me some tailor-made-for-me-because-they-know-me-so-well tips to get it (and keep it) moving.

Making a Vision Book/Board 2Party prep was super-simple: We each brought stacks of old magazines, which made the party double as a “Get Rid of Magazine Clutter” meet-up :-), and we got to work. Free fun! That’s what I’m talking about.

  1. I’m in the process of doing this. I have also invited my 10 year old son to do one of his own. I tend to have lots of fashion/beauty magazines so I haven’t been successful with many images because fashion/beauty won’t be the focus of our vision boards. So I’ll hit up the Internet for some images and I may buy a few magazines that focus on the items we both want on our boards. I hope that we can get them done this weekend.

I love the idea of having your son make a vision page! One of the benefits of having the get-together was that each person had a stash of different kinds of magazines: I had lots of fashion ones, like you, but one friend brought money, business, and investment magazines. Just looking through those was helpful. Maybe you could ask your friends/coworkers if they have some magazines they could donate to your project so you won’t have to spend extra money. Usually, people are more than happy to get rid of piles of old mags! Thanks for reading and commenting 🙂

  2. AH! How did I miss this? I love that you had a vision book party with your friends! I had one with my family and now I want to do one with my friends, this looks like it was so much fun. And, go you for learning and growing with your friends. I love it.

  3. I LOVE this. I never thought of doing a Vision Board Book. I may plan a little Vision Board party at the end of the year for 2014. Great post.

Thank you! It was fun! What I really love about vision books is that I can add/change pages anytime I have new goal.

  4. I did my first vision board back in January at a friend’s vision board party. One of the other girls there mentioned she was gonna do hers on Pinterest. Luckily, I had brought my iPad with me so decided to do mine on Pinterest as well. You can do it as either a public or private board. I made my private. But it’s great because I always have it with me (either on my iPhone, iPad or computer).
