Recipe: Turkey, Spinach, and Gruyere Sandwich

This recipe, another one adapted from Sweet Paul Eat & Make, makes the most moist, chewy-ooey-gooey, delicious sandwiches!

Turkey, spinach, and Gruyere for me…

Recipe: Ham and Gruyere Sandwich (Croque Monsieur)

…and a traditional Croque Monsieur for the hub 🙂

Ingredients: makes 2 sandwiches

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk, warmed
  • Salt and pepper
  • 4 slices challah bread
  • 2-4 slices turkey
  • 2-4 slices ham
  • Spinach
  • 1 cup grated Gruyere

Sandwiches: Ham and Gruyere & Turkey, Spinach, and Gruyere

  • Preheat oven to 400.
  • Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium high heat. Stir in flour, and continue to stir for about one minute.
  • Stir in milk 1/4 cup at a time, and season with salt and pepper.
  • Dip 2 pieces of bread into the milk mixture, turn to coat (do not saturate), and allow excess sauce to drip off.
  • Place the bread on a parchment lined baking sheet, and top with turkey/ham/spinach and 1/2 the cheese.

Sandwiches: Ham and Gruyere & Turkey, Spinach, and Gruyere 2

  • Coat the remaining bread slices in sauce, and place on top of sandwiches.
  • Sprinkle with remaining cheese.
  • Bake for about 15 minutes, and serve hot.

  1. Oh my gawwwd, I am drooling at my desk. Those look SO GOOD. You had me at Gruyere. I’m going to have to try this and pair it with a cup of soup!
