Green Smoothie: Spinach, Romaine, and Fruit

Green Smoothie Recipe: Spinach, Romaine, Fruits

I’ve gotten into the habit of drinking a green smoothie first thing in the morning 5-6 days/week, and here’s the recipe for the one I typically have, a version of the popular glowing green smoothie. To save time and help keep me on track with green-smoothie-drinking, I make and freeze a couple weeks’ worth at a time.

Green Smoothie Recipe: Spinach, Romaine, Fruits 2

Ingredients: makes approximately 4 15oz smoothies

Blend:

  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 5 cups spinach
  • 1 head romaine lettuce
  • 1 stalk celery
  • 2 apples (or 1 apple and 1 pear)
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup pineapple
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

This smoothie tastes healthy: It’s not super sweet, especially if the pineapple is omitted, and it might be considered an acquired taste. Still, I really like them, and I can definitely tell a difference in how I feel on the mornings when I don’t have one.

Do you drink green smoothies/juices? Have you noticed any health or beauty benefits from drinking them?

  1. Thanks for the recipe! I bought a juicer about a month ago and have yet to get busy and give it a whirl. When I do, I’ll have to give this one a try!
