Three Things: Pens and Pencils

Three Things: Pens & Pencils

I have always had a thing for nice pens, pencils, notebooks, etc., so I thought I’d share three of the ones I’m loving right now.

*Also, I don’t actually grow – or intend to grow – orchids. I do paint a little though, and I like to flip through the orchid book for color inspiration. Just putting that out there before my friends are like, “So, E, about those orchids…” I’m already behind on my granola bar orders after this post, LOL.

Le Pen: Marvy Uchida

True story. All through college – well, at least in the classes I could muster up a care about (I did say true story; I’m giving the real real here :-)) – I had the same note taking/studying strategy: I would take notes in class with my trusty Bic pencils (see below). Later, I would rewrite the notes using about a jillion different colored pens to color coordinate organize the info. That’s it. By the time I did all that, I had a good grasp of the material. These pens by Marvy Uchida would’ve been perfect for that! They come in the best colors and are very smooth-writing.

Another true story. Once, I asked my BFF’s boyfriend (an engineering major) to take notes for me (a biology major) in a chemistry class I wasn’t going to attend. Next session, he opened his notebook and had the nerve to give me a sheet of paper with the number 4 – only – written on it. Just as I was about to crack him over the head with the aforementioned notebook, he said, “See? The 4 reminds me that…” and proceeded to give me the highlights of the entire lecture I missed. That’s when I realized two very important things: 1) He’s some sort of genius, and 2) I should never, ever, ever under any circumstances ask him to take notes for me again.

Bic Mechanical Pencils

I’m in love with these old skool Bic mechanical pencils! I do almost all my writing with these. Love them! I’m not feeling the new clear pastel colors, though, so if you see any like the ones pictured, let me know. Please and thank you 🙂

Rustic Colored Pencils

Ok, so I don’t actually write with these rustic tree bark colored pencils. However, I do like to look at them, so I keep them near my workspace. *Special thanks to my big bro who sharpened them with a knife to keep the rough-hewn feel.

  1. Ok, I was all over the orchids until you busted my bubble! I love pens and pencils too. I particularly love gel pens. I think it makes everything look so neat. Thanks for another great post!

You’re welcome! Thank you for reading and taking the time to comment; it really brightens my day 🙂 Also, thanks for the tip about gel pens. I’m going to have to pick some up. Any particular brand?
