Here is the second part of the Labels Resale Boutique post! (CLICK HERE to read Part I.)
Beth and Ryan at Labels Resale Boutique (Vinings) were so kind as to offer my friends and me dress forms on which to create outfits, but we decided to mix business with pleasure and style each other while doing a little shopping. Special thanks to them for letting us play dress-up for hours and to V and S, my beautiful Joy and Sunshine models for the day 🙂

I’m a big fan of treating leopard print as a neutral, and this orange ruffle-collar sleeveless blouse looks amazing with the skirt and with the model’s skin tone. And check out how great her seafoam-colored nails mesh with with the rest of the look!
Jacket: Club Monaco ($30.40)/ Tank: Carmen Mark Valvo ($9.60: brand new with $425 regular price tag still attached)
In addition to the above, she also picked up a new Anthropologie leather belt for $20 (regular price $48) and super cute Michael Kors skirt ($12). For the record, if she didn’t snag that dot print blazer, it would be hanging in my closet right now. Right now.
Wrap Dress: Banana Republic ($26)
When I saw this dress on the rack, I held it up immediately and said, “Did you see this?”
Post Pause: LOOK at her curves in this dress!!! See, this right here is why I keep my flute-shaped self away from wrap dresses, despite Diane von Furstenburg’s contention that they are for “every woman”: I don’t want to get stuck – looking like a 5th grader – standing next to a figure like hers 🙂

She also scored a great pair of Theory pants ($9) and a Banana Republic blazer ($8.10).
Blazer: Ralph Lauren ($38.40: brand new, regularly $250)
I didn’t actually wear this blazer to the store, but as soon as I saw this classic striped wonder, I knew it was coming home with me. See how easily it made friends with the rest of my look?
On this visit, I also bought a hardly worn Prada sweater ($27…deal of the day!), a pair of Etcetera printed pants ($8.10), a mod-looking white short sleeved Banana Republic jacket ($17), and a pair of red Plastic Island shorts ($19).
Three of my college friends and I get together every year (shout out to the Fab Four!), and last year’s meet-up was in Hickory, NC. Our Hostess with the Mostest took us to a couple of her fave consignment stores in the area: The Fitz and Style Exchange.
When shopping resale stores, I usually take one of two approaches: timeless, classic pieces that will blend seamlessly into my wardrobe or more stand-out pieces that I wouldn’t ordinarily consider, especially at full retail price. I went for the latter on this trip, and spent well under $50 for:
- A button front knit skirt (thank goodness for the elastic waistband or I wouldn’t have been able to get the thing on!)
- An oversized, ruffle-front white button down that my BFF referred to as a “Pilgrim shirt”
- A navy eyelet dress that I really like, but that’s in a constructed in a looser silhouette than I would normally be attracted to
- A long-ish, kelly green Ralph Lauren cardi, a preppy girl’s dream
- a printed mini in a shape I don’t even know how to describe with a big bow in the front (sounds cray, I know, but I can’t wait to wear it).
One of my friends picked up a J Crew knee-length wool coat with toggle buttons for only $18 (deal of the day)! Man, if that beauty was in my size…
So the moral of this story is to give local consignment and resale stores a try! It’s eco-friendly (recycling, reusing) and a great way to stretch your shopping dollars while finding some unique, quality pieces. For those who don’t like to spend a lot of time shopping, call me, I’ll do it for you! consignment shops usually offer a smaller, well-edited selection than most mall and department stores.
