Ladybug Blazer: Puff Sleeves!

This is somewhat of an aside…

In addition to having serious crushes on anchors,ย festival attire, Americana-wear, clothes reminiscent of granny’s drapes, and unconventional purses, I also have a thing for puff sleeves*, big and small. For example, these blazers are high on my wish list.

*I almost bought a vintage blouse with puff sleeves from an antique store last year, but it 1) was too expensive, 2) didn’t suit my real life (not that these other personal style loves do either, I guess), and 3) was too expensive. Truthfully, if the first and third were’t such prominent issues, then the second wouldn’t have been been allowed to intervene ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. LOVE the pants. LOVE the purse even more.

  2. I NEED that purse. I totally agree with Val.

Thank you! Like I mentioned in my reply to Val, I scored that purse (and one in navy, too) from the now defunct Loehmann’s. I remember walking around the store with both colors in my hand, trying to decide which one to get. They became such good friends on the stroll that I had to get both ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. I love the green trousers. And I too am I’m “love” with the puff sleeves. I recently purchased the puff sleeve blazer in triangle dots and am on the hunt for a puff sleeve blazer in navy or red. They fit wonderfully. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you for the tip! Puff sleeves are the best ๐Ÿ™‚ I haven’t picked up the blazer yet because I’m not sure of sizing. Do you know if the fit is on the same scale as the schoolboy blazer?

      • Sorry of such a late reply. IMO the puff sleeve blazers run TTS in the cotton version. However the seersucker puff sleeve blazer is a bit small in the shoulder and arm area. I typically buy tall sizes and have always gotten the same size in schoolboy blazer, be it wool or linen . With the puff sleeve blazer I had to go up one size from my usual because I couldn’t lift my arms without this tightness in the shoulder area. It could be that seersucker fabric has less give, not really sure.

Thank you, Birdie! With J Crew’s recent rash of crazy (wonderful) clearance sales, I bought four of the puff sleeve blazers at great prices. Exactly as you said, the seersucker version fit me differently than the solid colors, so I left that one behind. I also needed a size larger in all the puff sleeve jackets compared to my schoolboy blazer size. Thanks again for the tip!

Thank you! You are TOO kind bc I feel like a bumbling crazy person when taking outfit pics. Would you believe I bought those green pants 3-4 years ago, and just started wearing them this summer?
