Quick Tip: Soap Dishes and Sample Sizes

Soap Dish and Mini Soaps

QUICK TIP #1: Use common items in off-label ways

When I couldn’t find a soap dish I liked – I know, I know: picky much, J&S? – for our master bathroom, I left the “bathroom accessories” department and headed for the “dining” section. Appetizer plates make excellent soap dishes! Bonus: They’re usually dishwasher safe, so no hand-cleaning gunky soap dishes.

QUICK TIP #2: Repurpose samples and hotel bathroom amenities

Some hotels provide really nice bath and body products, like the Aveda mini soaps pictured above, as guest room amenities. Where possible, I bring back the extras and keep them in the guest bathroom, just in case visiting friends and family need them. Once my sister, who was in from out of town, said, “Oh! You get your bath products from Crabtree & Evelyn?” I replied, “No. The hotel where we stayed in Hilton Head gets their bath products from Crabtree & Evelyn.” 🙂

Sidenote: This is one of my favorite photographs! The beach is my happy place, and this picture evokes ocean breezes and that wonderful salty-oceany-beachy environment I love. I used my straw bag (which I can’t wait to bring out of storage now that Atlanta miiiight be committed to springtime weather… at least this week) as a background.
