Cable Knit and Hiking Boots

Atlanta weather – like Atlanta in general – just does its own thing. Seventy degrees on Tuesday, thirty on Wednesday? Done. Snow flurries followed by a shorts-and-a-tee day? Done. Melting hot in December, freezing in June? Done. Lately, it’s been rain… like all the time.

Loafers would be so great with this outfit, but I did not want to risk ruining them and all the loafer moments I’m already looking forward to this summer. So Plan B: I reached deep, waaay back to the dusty bottom left corner of my closet to unearth my old-old-oldie-old hiking boots.

These boots are SO old, and the older, more beat-up they get, the more I dig them. The shredded laces and loose threads add to the character of the shoe, gives them life. HA!  While that may be true, what’s even more true is this: These Timbs are my throw on, zero maintenance, mud-water-come-what-may kicks, so whatever they look like, they look like. See “zero maintenance” above.

Side note: I wore these hiking boots with shorts to a corn maze at a farm a couple years ago. That’s when I learned that corn mazes are excellent workouts… especially if a person is challenged when it comes to mazes in general, and life-size mazes made of really tall corn stalks in particular. I’m willing to give it another go, but hub doesn’t seem interested. At all. No worries, though: It’s an autumn activity, so I’ve got months to suggest it… repeatedly 🙂

  1. The Timbs!!! Those are the 1 pair of shoes I’ve had since 11th grade and can’t part with them.

  2. That sweater is so cute! Love the hat too!

Thank you! The funny thing is I didn’t wear this sweater at all when I first bought it, but now, a year or so later, I’m wearing it all the time!
